FHA Resident Services Department

The FHA Resident Services Department is composed of two employees and serves the elderly, disabled and families of the housing authority. The FHA offers several programs for its tenants including the following:

  1. Congregate Housing at the C.J. Durkin Apartments
  2. Elderly Supportive Housing Program at the C.J. Durkin Apartments. This program is managed by the Montachusett’s Home Health Care Corporation and offers a wide-variety of programs for the elderly and disabled.
  3. PACE Program at Wallace Tower Apartments. This program provides health assistance to the seniors.

The RSC develops and implements supportive service programming in collaboration with tenant associations, residents, management, and local community service providers. Provides ongoing outreach services to identify individuals who would benefit from services, recruits volunteers, and identifies program and service gaps.

Violence Against Women Act (VAWA)

A federal law that went into effect in 2006 protects individuals who are victims of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking. The name of the law is the Violence against Women Act, or “VAWA.” Rights and protections for victims of domestic violence who receive rental assistance through HUD's Housing Choice Voucher Programs may find information and forms here.
