Fitchburg Housing Authority was established in 1948.
The Agency’s mission is to provide safe, secure rental units for families, elderly, and handicapped or disabled persons. Both the State and Federal Governments fund the programs. Depending upon the program, applicants can be housed either in private sector dwellings or apartment complexes owned by the Fitchburg Housing Authority.

FHA Reopening to Public, Tuesday, April 6, 2021
The FHA will resume normal operations beginning on Tuesday, April 6, 2021. Normal office hours will resume at all FHA office locations.
Routine work orders and unit inspections will also be resuming starting in April. We ask all residents to observe social distancing and wear masks when visiting FHA offices and when maintenance staff are in your apartments.

RFP for the Lease
of 76 Mechanic Street, Fitchburg MA
The Fitchburg Housing
Authority (FHA) is seeking via an RFP a five-year leasing proposals for 76
Mechanic Street, Fitchburg MA. A full
property description can be found in the bid documents, but it is a single structure with three floors with nine (9)
bedrooms. The lease is for those
entities that provide housing and supportive services to hard-to-house
populations as described in the RFP (domestic violence, substance abuse,
homeless, etc.). This property is
regulated per the requirements of DHCD.
FHA will not provide any housing or program subsidies and the tenant must pay
rent, property taxes and utilities. The
lease cannot be assigned or sublet.
Estimated monthly rent is $3,656.00 excluding taxes and utilities. The RFP will be released to the public on Wednesday, August 25th, 2021, and a non-mandatory
site-inspection will be held on Tuesday, September 14th, 2021. Questions from bidders are due on Friday,
September 25th, 2021, and the bid due date is Friday, October
8tht, at 11:30 am. If no bid
is awarded then a second bid round will be held on Friday November 12th,
at 11:30 am.
